Mud, sweat, and smiles!
It’s not every day
you see teenage girls and grown women running, army crawling through mud,
slipping, sliding, and climbing over any obstacle in the name of fun, fitness,
and overall health. The want to achieve and be fit takes living life to the
fullest to a new level. It is this infectious spirit in all of the LoziLu
Women’s Mud Runs that inspires more women in 2013 to be a part of these 5k mud
runs!
I took some time to chat with Britni of LoziLu to hear what she had to say about the dirty yet fabulous run that helps to benefit leukemia and lymphoma research.
How does the Mud Run
challenge Women of all fitness levels?
“LoziLu has a very
inclusive atmosphere we insure that anyone of any fitness level can do the run,
and we want to make sure everyone feels included whether you’re a fitness diva
or a beginner. Obstacles are scaled so anyone can participate. We have the
team oriented aspect so all friends can have a day out together. It really hits
home with empowerment.”
Personally what's your favorite
obstacle?
“I have a few one, of my favorite obstacles is an 18ft.
water slide brand new to the course; I also enjoy seeing women take on the slip
and slide. Plus the obstacle called the Bad Hair day, a pole structure with
ropes intertwined around it the women have to weave through.”
Any advice on what the Women should
wear or bring with them to the Mud Run?
“At Lozilu we have a free valet bag
check. We will have food and drinks do bring a change of clothes for the after
party. Come with a team inspired outfit, we have a best outfit contest! Use
masking tape on your shoes, make an ankle wrap with it to keep your shoes on.”
How did the Mud Run come about?
“By two
couples: Lauren (Lozi) and Brodie Birkel and Luisa (Lu) and Francis Donovan, in
October of 2011 as a means to spread health and fitness in the US.
It was really inspired
by LoziLu founders wives: Lauren and Luisa competed in trilithons
and they both are big believers in spreading the need for health and wellness
around. It is a tribute to them and women to be active and live a
healthy life style. Fitness can be fun!”
How much money do you expect to raise
for kids and young adults with lymphoma and leukemia?
“We raised $20,000
last year for all the races, that was 9 events, and now we have 13 events. The
event has been growing in each city. We will raise more this year! “
A special thank you to Britni for answering my questions! To the women out there I hope this answers some of your questions about the LoziLu Women’s Mud Run and creates some curiosity for you to check it out further! Continue to spread the LoziLu Love!
